Wow! I was honestly blown away and honoured to have won “Business Woman of the Year Award” at the Islam Channel Business Awards last Friday evening! Al Hamdulillah.

I’m absolutely chuffed that the hugely accomplished panel of 12 Independent Judges headed by Sir Iqbal Sacranie OBE, chose me!

It was a truly wow moment!

Well done to all the amazing winners and runners up too. There were so many phenomenal people attending the Awards dinner evening.

The Muslim community in the UK has grown considerably over the years, and it’s so wonderful to see a community brought together by their shared Islamic faith, doing so much to raise awareness of Islam and the accomplishments of Muslim owned businesses in the UK.

I’ve come away feeling inspired to work even harder at my mission and vision for my business.

Being an entrepreneur holds many challenges, a steep learning curve, highs & lows, and requires a lot of determination and resilience – we don’t do it for the awards we do it because that’s what our passion drives us to do.

Winning this award is an acknowledgement – it’s a “we see you smashing it!” Well that’s my interpretation anyway!

I guess there is something to be said about being recognised for the relentless hard work that we put into our businesses.

I want to inspire every muslim woman to work hard for what they believe in, to put in the effort and strive to be the best version of themselves – I’m living proof that if you keep your head down, keep working hard, you will get noticed and your turn on the stage will come, Insha’Allah!

I’d like to say a big thank you to Islam Channel for hosting such a memorable evening.

I’d like to thank all my customers ie. the mums and dad, grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, friends that are choosing to buy our toys for their special little ones.

I’d also like to express my gratitude to all our Stockists and Distributors across the world, including, but by no means limited to: Selfridges, ASDA , Morrisons, Babyshop (KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain), Kiddyzone (UAE, Qatar), Lucky’s World (Kuwait), Muslim Memories (USA) , Baitul Hikmah (South Africa), Darussalam (Australia), Sana Libraire (France), and of course all the independent Islamic Lifestyle and Bookstores across the UK that have supported the Desi Doll brand over the last 14 years.

Your support has certainly had a big part to play in our success story and I am truly grateful to all of you for supporting me on this journey.

We continue to work towards our vision of making our fun islamic toys as widely available as possible.

We want muslim children to feel represented by the toys they see on the shelves, nurture their love for Islam, and help build their confidence and pride as little muslims, Insha’Allah.

Jazakallah Khair – May Allah reward you all in abundance. Ameen.
