International Women’s Day is a day where women’s achievements are celebrated across all fields.

It’s about valuing oneself and realising one’s full potential – and so today I unapologetically celebrate me! Today I throw imposter syndrome out of the window! I’ve worked hard over the last 14 years to create a business designing toys that make learning about the Islamic faith fun for kids!My mission has always been to make Islamic faith inspired toys available in the mainstream retail outlets.

Today I’d like to acknowledge and celebrate that Desi Doll faith toys can be found in ASDA, Morrisons and Selfridges! Boom! Woo Hoo! And yes, there are a lot more stores that I’d like my toys to be in – but right now, today, I am super proud! And I am celebrating!

Today, I am also celebrating all women, especially women of diverse background, who dare to follow their dreams, dare to do something different, and who never give up, despite the odds!

I was honoured to be invited to the House of Commons by the APPG on British Muslims, and surrounded by successful, brave and bold women from all sectors – real powerhouse women owning their space.

It was wonderful to meet in person, and have conversations with Baroness Warsi, Naz Shah MP, Dr Nighat Awan OBE, Zara Mohammed, Secretary General MCB, Dr Saliha Mahmood, Dr Nighat Arif, Fatima Barkatulla, Eleanor Martin, Khayal Theatre, and many more.

Women have so much to celebrate!  The sisterhood is strong! Happy International Women’s Day!
